TN GOVERNOR INAUGURATED INTERNATIONAL MENTORING SUMMIT IN THE CITY
The International Mentoring Summit organized jointly by the BYST and CII is part of a series of events held over the past one year as part of BYST’s 25th Anniversary Celebrations. The Summit would focus on the theme – “Empowering young Grampreneurs™ to create jobs”
Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu would be the Chief Guest and deliver the Inaugural Address at the Summit on 20th April 2018 in Chennai.
Dr Kiran Bedi, Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry will be the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Session and Shri O Panneerselam, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu will be the Guest of Honour.
The summit will also bring together eminent experts, senior Government Officials, captains of industry, Heads of leading financial institutions, banks besides Youth Icons, Emerging Entrepreneurs and Media personalities to deliberate on the Summit theme.
Ahead of the event, Ms Lakshmi V Venkatesan, Founding and Managing Trustee, Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust, said “BYST has strongly felt the need to empower youth and create the eco-system for entrepreneurship, not just in big cities but in small villages as well. BYST trademarked Grampreneurs™ from the smallest towns and villages have the untapped potential to create jobs and solve the problem of joblessness. This has been endorsed through the Business Idea Contest where the best convertible ideas have come from the Grampreneurs™. The business ideas when matched with the right mentorship have converted entrepreneurs into crorepaties.
For rapid economic growth coupled with job creation and entrepreneurship development, Mentoring is key. Hence there is need for a concerted national agenda that consciously develops enterprise capabilities amongst the underserved youth in the rural areas. Inspired by HRH Prince Charles in 1992, the BYST Gramapreneur model has proved to be successful across India with mentoring playing a key role, she further added.
BYST in partnership with MSME Development Institute, launched the Business India Contest (BIC) in the urban/ rural areas of Tamil Nadu for igniting entrepreneurship among the youth masses. The top three ideas will be awarded cash prizes and certificates during the summit. Recognizing the efforts of the entrepreneurs, BYST will also felicitate the top performers on the occasion.
Eminent speakers at the Inaugural Session of the Summit would provide their keynote perspectives on Mentoring Ecosystem for Grampreneurs™.Building a mentoring ecosystem have emerged as a distinct component for Inclusive growth for creating dynamic Grampreneurs™. ‘Mentoring’ has the power to change and promote the bottom of pyramid entrepreneurs to create local employment opportunities in rural areas.
The Special Plenary Session on “Changing Lives: Mentoring to tap the potential of Grampreneurs” will focus on transformation of rural youth through mentorship and making them potential job creators in the villages thereby ensuring inclusive growth.
The Session on “Sangam: A Confluence of Ideas by Thought Leaders” would highlight the life changing experiences of leading icons and achievers from different walks of life on the significance of mentorship.
The Valedictory Session would focus on Setting a National Agenda for Empowering Young Grampreneurs™ to create jobs. Eminent speakers would provide their insights towards creating a concerted national agenda that consciously develops enterprise capabilities amongst the underserved youth in the rural areas.
The summit will recognise the top performing dynamic micro-entrepreneurs supported by BYST, who have achieved extraordinary business growth and created multi fold employment. The summit will also witness the launch of digital platform and entrepreneur training tool, a first of its kind, customised and packaged for Grampreneurs.
